Fern Cotton Interviews Prince William and Harry

Today the BBC released its interview with Princes William and Harry who interviewed by radio DJ Fearne Cotton. The interview took place on the same day the royal brothers were interviewed by American broadcaster NBC.

The Princes spoke of the important part in their lives their mother played and continues to play and why they decided to organize a concert in her memory. Here are some excerpts from the interview. Hopefully we'll be able to provide it in its entirety at some point in the near future.

Speaking about their mother and the 10th anniversary of her death:

PRINCE WILLIAM: "After 10 years there's been a sort of rumbling of people, um, bringing up the bad and over time people seem to forget - or have forgotten - all the amazing things she did and what an amazing person she was. And we sort of felt that this was the best way of bringing that back to life, um, and letting people remember, you know, all the good things about her. Um, because she's not here to defend herself when she gets criticized and so we want to do that instead and this is the best way of us getting that across to people. "She was wonderful and sadly there's no amount of words that either Harry or I could tell you now that could actually portray that. Um, you’d have to meet her to really understand her, and you know, you ask people who have met her and they will tell you just how amazing she was. And for us we were so lucky to have her, you know, as our mother. And um, we, you know, there’s not a day goes past that we don’t think about her and miss her influence because she was a massive example to both of us. And, um, you know, it's one of those things that, um, is very sad but, you know, learn to deal with it and there are plenty of other people out there who have got, you know, the same or worse problems than we've had."

PRINCE HARRY: "I think the nicest thing, the fact that she was our mother, she had her public side and she had her private side. And the private side was very small in comparison to the public side obviously but, you know, the memories that we've got of her, I think we're very lucky to have those memories. Because they're so private between us and, you know, that’s the nicest thing about it. You know, you see her get slated for such and such, but the personal memories that we have of her are very much private and that's where hopefully it will always be."

James Morrison Performs in Concert for Diana at Wembley Arena

James Morrison posted the following message to fans on his blog at Myspace on Friday (June 29):

So I'm 'doing' the Diana concert on Sunday!

It's crazy to think that I was playing to 4 people just over a year ago and now I'm involved in an amazing event filled with legendary artists who have inspired me along the way... Rod Stewart, Elton John and contemporary stars like Pharrell and Kanye West, all at the top of their game...

I think that anything which makes people more aware of the kinds of charities Diana supported; those working to help orphans of aids-ravaged families, and closer to home things like the Centrepoint charity, helping homeless youngsters in London, has got to be a good thing and I'm delighted to be involved.

I really can't wait to get out there and perform and to see some of the others play. I'm kind of overwhelmed by it, but I'll try and take it in my stride and not be too nervous.

I'd really love to be able to see the whole show, but it's come on a day when I'm doing one of my own summer forest tour shows up in Gloucestershire... So basically I've got to get all G.I. Joe and go from Wembley in a helicopter up to my own gig. Cool, but pretty full on!

The forest shows have been going amazingly well so far, so thanks to anyone who has been or is coming. There's an amazing atmosphere, just like a mini-festival... mud an all!

On Wednesday I played to over 7000 people in Amsterdam and that was also incredible, you may have seen some of the photos up here already.

Right now I'm on my way to Sherwood Pines near Nottingham to do the gig. Hopefully I'll see Maid Marion roaming around Sherwood Forest and I'll do my best Robin Hood impersonation...

Love & Peace

James

Natasha Bedingfield Performs in Concert for Diana at Wembley Arena

Despite the dodgy weather this weekend, Natasha managed to bring out the sunshine and pulled off a stellar performance at the Concert for Diana yesterday.

"I just watched Nat's performance of Unwritten on Diana concert.

She was amazing!!! As per usual not to mention she looked absolutely stunning too... its just a shame she didn't perform more songs as she definitely deserved to... if Lily Allen and Joss Stone get to perform 2-3 songs why can't she??

Definitely one of the highlights of the concert!!!"

Stone, who is the same age as William, was just a child when Diana died in a car crash in 1997, but she still remembers watching the tragedy unfold on TV.

And rather than just belt out her soul hits onstage on Sunday, the British singer felt she should do something special. She says, "I spoke to Will... because I wanted him to tell me what would be special. I wanted to know what she liked because it's not about anybody but her and them (sons William and Harry). "He said, 'She liked Tina Turner, so I said, 'Alright...' and picked out a Tina Turner song." William also helped Stone pick a Queen song to cover and selected tunes from the soul singer's back catalogue that he felt his mum would have liked.
